One of our favorite moments at the pretzel factory is providing tours to the public. We greatly enjoy our visitors and educating the world about soft pretzels. Of course we practice good succession planning in developing top performing pretzel rollers too! Check out our recent photos on our Facebook page  - http://www.facebook.com/SanDiegoPretzel  These 1st and 2nd graders rolled some pretty awesome pretzels!

The topping selection is always exciting for us too! Yesterday we saw a Traditional soft pretzel with cinnamon sugar, hot fudge and caramel sauce, it looked delicious!

Heating and enjoying soft pretzels is an easy preparation process. The San Diego Pretzel Company authentic Bavarian soft pretzels are versatile and can be heated in a variety of equipment from microwaves to ovens to camp stoves or grills!

While we always recommend that lightly moistening the pretzel with water is the healthiest preparation, we have had lots of customer feedback for everything from brushed butter to honey butter to molasses or carmel sauce.

Besides pretzels, we also bake other products upon request. For one, we actually co pack a healthy, vegetarian, dog biscuit for a company called Healthy Hound . Made from rolled oats, unsweetened apple sauce, and other delicious seasonings, my staff and I eat our share of them while still warm coming right out of the oven. Seriously…they’re delicious.
Another product we make is the Del Mar Carrot Crumb Cake which was developed upon request for the Del Mar Race Track Turf Club. It’s a moist carrot cake with cream cheese frosting topped with lots of crumbs.

Just recently, we’ve put together a chocolate chip cookie for San Diego State University. They wanted to go up scale with a special cookie, and we were happy to oblige. But we need your help. We don’t know what to call our new cookie. So, if anyone reading this newsletter has a good name to call our new chocolate chip cookie for SDSU, please let us know, and if we select your suggestion for the name, we will send you an entire case, 48 - 4 ounce chocolate chip cookies, to your door. We will announce the winning name on this blog and on Facebook. Just post your suggestion on our blog page or email us your chocolate chip cookie name to info@sandiegopretzel.com.

Look forward to hearing from you.

P.S. Guess what? The recipe for the chocolate chip cookies can be found in the book Pleasures Of The Palate, but without almonds.

A little old lady sold pretzels on a street corner for 25 cents each. Every day a young man would leave his office building at lunch time and as he passed the pretzel stand, out of the kindness of his heart, he would leave her a quarter, but never take a pretzel.

This went on for more than 3 years. The two of them never spoke.

Then one day as the young man passed the old lady's stand and left his quarter as usual, the pretzel lady finally spoke to him.

Without blinking an eye she said, "Hey, they're 35 cents now."
